News has broken that fan-favorite actors Jennifer Lawrence and Josh Hutcherson are set to appear once again in the next chapter of the Hunger Games film series, titled The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping. The project is now in the works.
A Major Return to Panem
Lawrence and Hutcherson are returning as Katniss Everdeen and Peeta Mellark, respectively. It is believed their cameos will likely occur in a future-set scene, given that the original saga concluded with their characters settled into family life.
This signifies the sixth cinematic outing in the blockbuster Hunger Games franchise.
Exploring the New Story
Sunrise on the Reaping is adapted from a newly published work by author Suzanne Collins. It acts as the follow-up prequel after 2023's The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes. For this project is Francis Lawrence, who has helmed most of the previous films in the series.
The Plot and New Cast
The film's narrative are set 24 years before the first Hunger Games, focusing on a young Haymitch Abernathy. Haymitch, destined to become Katniss's mentor, is portrayed as a tribute in the brutal 50th Hunger Games.
The cast also includes several prominent actors in important characters:
- Jesse Plemons is playing Plutarch Heavensbee.
- Ralph Fiennes is cast as a younger version of the menacing President Snow.
