Patrick Bamford is now a member of the Championship side only half a year after leading derogatory songs aimed at the team's coach, Chris Wilder.

This experienced striker, a free agent since leaving Leeds United, has agreed to a agreement joining the Championship strugglers through the winter. Bamford's lengthy time at Elland Road concluded through agreement in August.

One of the player's final notable acts while at Leeds was to lead offensive chants about Wilder amid the club’s promotion party this spring. Currently, the former England international will feature for Wilder as Sheffield United's boss looks to rescue his beloved club out of the bottom places.

Past History Involving Bamford & the Manager

The pair had history prior to Leeds earned promotion back to the top flight last season while Sheffield United were defeated in the promotion decider by Sunderland. The manager described the forward as “a muppet” back when the roles were reversed during the 2018-19 season and Sheffield United secured direct promotion whereas Leeds fell short in the promotion playoffs.

Making Amends and Looking Ahead

All appears to have been put behind them with United, the league's lowest scorers, urgently requiring of improvement up front while Bamford hoping to rejuvenate his career.

The Wilder chant gained traction this spring. A repentant Bamford along with Leeds boss, Farke, phoned Wilder the following day.

Wilder stated at the time: “Had a conversation with Pat recently and I’ve no issue at all with that. I'm uncertain about the language from a fellow pro! However I valued and admired him giving me a call.

“We spent a short while and similarly I talked with Daniel Farke as well and had a longer discussion with him and he is a great person, a top guy. Back in my playing days we would give it and accept it and that’s an integral part of the game across all levels, including Sunday league. I've got no problem at all. I'm fine with it and I told him that to Pat.”

Latest Career Challenges

Bamford made 18 appearances with Leeds United in the previous campaign however the ex- Nottingham Forest, Chelsea FC and Middlesbrough striker has struggled with injury in recent years.
