NFL 2025 season: Week six
Real-time updates includes live text of the weekend matchups via various channels, starting with Denver Broncos v New York Jets at Tottenham (kicking off at 2 PM BST). Also, radio commentary is available through designated networks covering a separate game (from 21:00 BST).
It's week six in the NFL season , after recent talk regarding the Buffalo Bills and Philadelphia Eagles being a potential Super Bowl match-up, they both surrendered their perfect starts.
Striking during those contests were the amount of infractions both conceded. Philadelphia did so in key moments so they kind of defeated themselves after leading by two touchdowns entering the final quarter against the Denver Broncos, set to play in London this weekend.
But it proved positive to see how Denver quarterback the rookie managed to overcome the shortfall and then lead three scoring drives on three possessions during the final period, to win the game by four points.
Denver have the top defender in cornerback their star corner. They rank first in goal-line defense, whereas Philadelphia are number one in red zone offence, yet Denver won that contest.
They executed effective strategies regarding disguised blitzes. They did not always rushing extra defenders but they might position two LBs in the 'A' gap then drop them out and dispatch a slot defender off the edge.
Early on of the season, we said on a program how the Broncos might emerge as this season's surprise contenders. They finished the previous year strongly then did a good job in continuing that momentum.
Could Denver be this season's underdog story?
Recently acquired tight end Evan Engram has stepped up big and recent RB JK Dobbins is a player the team trusts. He now ranks 5th in the NFL for rushing yards (over 400) and tied for fourth in rushing scores (four).
I love how head coach the Broncos' leader displays "RUSH!" at the top on his call sheet.
That shows that the Broncos represent a team that wants to run first, since you can do a lot based on that approach. It slows opposing rushes while maintains in positive situations.
It's also helped QB the young passer, who came into the league as the 12th overall draft pick in the prior draft, passing for 29 TDs – second only to Justin Herbert in rookie records (31 back in 2020).
Other elite QBs have the arm strength to throw all over, however they lack in the same way that Nix has. He has exceptional arm talent, a unique trait, and he is highly agile.
His strengths include his movement, the capacity to pass on the run, and using different arm angles to make throws when he rolls outside protection, on rollouts. He is able to throw precision throws over the middle and over the corner.
As a rookie QB, aged 25, he's got great composure in the pocket and isn't bothered by the blitz. He aims to evade a sack whenever possible and can throw under pressure. He has a high football IQ and remains very decisive.
If you constantly rush it consumes the clock and makes the opponent to stay on the field for longer, and when you have a mobile QB the defence has to cover the area vertically and horizontally. It can be draining.
Nix has pushed back with the coach on the sideline sometimes and it seems Payton likes that fire, seeing him as a fierce rival. In my view it's fun for him to have a young quarterback who's similar to moldable clay. He can truly develop him how he desires to shape him. I believe it's a special experience for him.
Payton owns a Super Bowl and now surpassed a legend for career NFL wins (173, tying for 14th). He's seen it all. I think the success the Broncos are experiencing offensively is mostly down to his leadership, his play-calling, his game sense – and the combination with Nix helps make him into who he is.
You wouldn't want a better guy in your ear, to help you through some of the tougher situations and boost self-belief.
I believe in the Broncos' defense, in Bo Nix's tenacity and composure. But are they good enough to face an elite team at full strength? Because that wasn't championship-level play by the Eagles last Sunday.
Currently, it's unlikely the Broncos are incredible. They're working better than most, which is a solid position to be in the AFC West. The key to do is maintain this path.
They're really good at embracing their strength, that is the ground game, and that's precisely what they must do against the Jets in London. It will likely be a Dobbins-focused game, essentially.
The Jets have surrendered 140 rushing yards per game (sixth worst), five ground scores this season (10th worst), and they're the sole squad without a win any game.
Ever since the league began tracking turnovers decades ago, this team are also the inaugural squad to go without a single takeaway through five games, which is surprising considering that their new coach was previously defensive co-ordinator at the Detroit Lions.
The Chiefs' QB says Kansas City have 'already lost too many games' following Monday's defeat to Jacksonville.
After this Sunday's game, the Broncos have a manageable slate up to their bye (in week 12) - the New York Giants, Dallas Cowboys, Houston Texans plus the Raiders before the Kansas City Chiefs.
In the AFC West, the Chiefs are 2-3 and the Broncos are tied with the Chargers on 3-2 so they could challenge for the top of the division.
It depends on what version Kansas City shows up they meet because Denver {beat|def
